Here's To Not Getting Stabbed And Other Thankfuls

It's me, your Ten Things of Thankful co-host who has been AWOL for a couple of weeks. I mean well, but I'm having thankful issues right now (still). I know, I KNOW, the best way to stop feeling sorry for yourself is to find those silver linings, so dammit, here goes:

I am thankful for:

1. My new favorite podcast, "My Favorite Murder."

2. My other favorite podcasts, "The Moth" and "This American Life."

3. "The Office" on Netflix. I only caught bits and pieces of the show when it was originally broadcast, so I started watching the entire series from beginning to end, and I'm 2/3 of the way through Season 8 (of 9 seasons).

4. Pudding cups. Portion control when you need a little something sweet, and no, eating two is NOT excessive, because they are really very small....

5. On that note, tapioca pudding. Does anyone else eat tapioca pudding anymore? They should. It's delicious.

6. Cap'n Crunch. Plain. Dry. Bowl optional.

7. Phone calls and texts from my kids.

8. Fresh, clean sheets on the bed. If we had a better chamber maid than we currently do, I would appreciate this to happen every single day.

9. Cheese.

10. That cats don't have opposable thumbs. Today, Lewis bounded into my room and onto the ottoman and proudly dropped a utility knife next to my feet. He had cobwebs in his whiskers and eyebrows, which means he found the knife in the basement, carried it up two flights of stairs and down two long hallways to get it to me. I'm taking it as a sign that he loves me and wanted to show me his treasure and not that he wants to stab me, but time will tell.

  1. Here's to not being stabbed! Dyanne, you do live an exciting life. My son told me this week that his cat took his (my son's, not the cat's) phone and dropped it in the toilet. I had no idea cats were so keen on carrying things around!

I hope that the silver linings become easier to find.

  2. Dyanne, I do believe we are related! I love tapioca. Unfortunately since I am the only one in the house with a sweet tooth now, I cannot justify making it, because all the pounds would go on me. LOL

I too listen to The Moth and This American Life podcasts.

Your number 8 made me laugh. Where is that chamber maid when we need her anyway?

I grew up on a farm and there were always a lot of cats around. The only things I ever saw cats carry, were mice, rats, birds, rabbits and pheasants, the latter two were a bit harder to straddle and drag up to brag. LOL I hope Lewis doesn't figure out how to use that utility knife.
    🤣

  3. Tapioca pudding is the best of all puddings and I love them all. Have you ever had it with crushed pineapple? Glad your kitty was careful.

  4. Cereal! I remember cereal! (Full Disclosure: the last time I ate cereal, the choices included Coco Puffs, Sugar Pops, Frosted Flakes... damn just remembering this probably launched my AC1 into the high 30s)
...at least Lewis didn't figure out how to extend the blade, that would have surely added note of extra excitement.

  5. If your Lewis is like my cats, he batted that knife around and toyed with it before he "caught" it and brought it to you.

The longer it takes me to find the silver linings, the more i am convinced i need to take the time to do so. That doesn't make it any easier, but i've found motivation follows action.
