Thankful for MAY!

April has been beyond busy! I've cooked, I've crafted, I've cleaned, I've pinned a bagel to my forehead. My husband suggested I take a week off from the blog (silly him, I have days and days and DAYS of reading to get caught up on other people's A to Z posts), but if I did that, how would I participate in the best blog hop in the blogosphere?! And here they are, my Ten Things of Thankful:

1. The A to Z Challenge is over! I have had a phenomenal time with it this year, but I'm not sad to see it end.

2. Did I say the A to Z Challenge is over? Counting it again.

3. Only three more Mondays left in the school year.

4. I found out earlier this week that my gall bladder is "completely clear." Apparently, radiologists don't say that very often, especially of someone as long in the tooth as I am, so there you go.

5. Cat spooning.

6. Earlier this week, I whined about how I wanted to stay in bed all morning with the windows open and listen to the birds singing outside. This morning, I got to do JUST THAT! A soft breeze was coming in the window, the birds were singing away, squirrels were chattering, Ruby was darting from window to window, watching all of it. I stayed in bed until 8:30 and would have stayed longer, had my bladder not had other plans for me.

7. Sara Lee cheesecake.

8. I spent much of this weekend cleaning out some shelves in my room where I store all my pictures and scrapbooking stuff, and while I wish I had DATED all of the many cards and drawings my kids made for me when they were small, I am thankful that I saved them all. Next step is going to be scanning some of them, because they are just so stinkin' precious!

9. I can't resist. Here's one set for which I am very thankful I kept:

He was a taruble speller when he was 6.

Just in case I wasn't sure of the sender.

In the meantime, nature called.

My reply.

All's well that ends well.

10. The A to Z Challenge is OVER!

Link up your thankfuls with us. We're fun!

  4. I have to say the bagel head is one of my favorites. I loved reading all of your A-Z posts. The notes are adorable. I don't think my kids would have caved so fast. There would be more ples, ples, ples, and more taruble mommy comments. Yay, for getting to stay in bed as late as you want.

    1. Thanks, Val! I'm hoping to get caught up on reading all my friends' A to Z entries this week. Your facebook posts of your links have made me hungry every time I saw one!
I don't remember how long it took him to cave, since I'd forgotten the incident completely until I found the notes. I did love his bathroom plea.

    1. My kids still call me Mommy when they want something :)
Since my friends were pretty convinced I was having trouble with my gall bladder, that it was completely clear was something else!

  6. Oh my goodness, the letters are awesome! Things to show on his wedding :-) Lily told me this week that she didn't like me, or Violet, or Calvin; the only one she liked was Daddy... Well, it didn't take her long until she loved everyone again :-) On another note: am I a horrible person for instructing the kids on which cues to relay to Daddy regarding what I'd like for Mother's Day??

    1. Aren't those letters fantastic?! I am so glad I kept them, although I'm kicking myself for not dating them. (Learn from my mistake, Stephanie; write a date on all that artwork and notes - you WON'T remember some day).
If you don't want to be disappointed on Mother's Day, then by all means, orchestrate your gift! I learned that a long time ago!

  7. There are always those morning when the windows are open and the temperature is just right and the blankets are just right. It makes it so hard to get out of bed in the morning because those mornings rarely seem to happen on weekends. Lucky you to get one of those mornings on a day when you could enjoy it.

    1. It was nothing short of delightful for that to happen on a Saturday morning when I had nowhere I needed to be. Not even some early morning yard fanatic mowing. Just nature. And cats, but two of them were sacked out with me.

  9. Haha I love the spin on your kids' notes—totally not what I expected! Love the reply, and his final note back to you though. Makes me want to save everything my kids made (because 90% of them right now go into the recycle box, eeks!). So glad to hear your health is okay, and hoping it continues that trend.

    1. I haven't looked in that folder probably since I put those notes in there, so it was a pleasant surprise to find them.
Three years ago, I was told my colon was "perfect" after a colonoscopy. Now I have a perfect gall bladder to add to it. Yay, me!
