1. Dry cat food.
2. Cats who eat dry cat food, so going off for a long weekend requires nothing more for them than extra dry cat food and extra water.
3. Cup holders in cars.
4. Cruise control, because the car we took this weekend doesn't have it (one day it worked, one day it didn't anymore), and I know it's a First World problem, but it makes my foot cramp to drive 8 hours without it.
5. Kids who are old enough to pack their own suitcases for a trip.
6. My pillows at home, because hotel pillows suck.
7. Lunch with my Person and both of our families.
8. Sno-cones on a hot day.
9. Eating yourself silly while visiting all your favorite restaurants in a span of just two and a half days.
10. Going to the zoo.
Kangaroo equivalent of a spoiled house cat. |
Look! It's a baby giraffe! |
It's rather unlikely that I will hop around much this weekend, but know that I'm thankful for YOUR thankfuls and when you link up with us, which you can do right here.
I would hate to be without cruise control - I use it all the time. I use it to keep my lead foot under control though.
ReplyDeleteDid you get those stupid half-pillow throw cushions that hotels try to pass off as a pillow?
I tend to creep up a little on the ol' speed limit without it myself.
DeleteThey were pillow sized, just not pillow full.
My car has crank windows...cruise control...what is this first world of which you speak? Hahahahahahhaah. Cracking myself up again! Have. A blast!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe need to get our crappy cars together for a drag race. I'd win, because mine is usually literally dragging something underneath that has fallen out.
Deletenever have used cruise control!! (not sure why, other than I suspect that if I did, my mind might wander (even more than it already does)…
ReplyDeleteHow often are you on long stretches of interstate, Clark? I imagine where you live, there isn't as much of that. Here in the Middle, we have miles and miles of farmland and woodsy areas between point A and point B.
DeleteFunny how you mentioned cup holders. There was an ex-colleague (she didn't know much about computers and was elderly) who asked what the CD ROM drive was for for. She thought that it was a cup holder. I had to teach her the internet!
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious, Michelle!
DeleteI hope you have a fantastic vacation! I think getting to pet a kangaroo guarantees it will be a success!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I was amazed at how soft that kangaroo was! I expected it to feel like a deer or something, but it was plush and soft!
DeleteI know about those 8 hour drives. Feet cramps, butt cramps, shoulder cramps - all of it. Sounds like some good summer fun on your mini-vacation.
ReplyDeleteI feel like a real sissy complaining about a lack of cruise control when the car we had when I was little didn't have air conditioning or seat belts.
DeleteOur cruise went out mysteriously for a day on our spring break trip. When one is used to not worrying about keeping a steady speed, having to actually do it hurts. And is stupidly difficult. I'm with ya.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are getting to have some fun with your friend and family while also eating all the food. :)
Do you think they've engineered the gas pedal to be more difficult to use without cruise control? Because I'm beginning to wonder.
DeleteIt was an eating frenzy.
Hurray for mini-vacations! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was wonderful!
DeleteHow cute, a baby giraffe! Do you realize that Calvin's going to be a toddler next week?? Cup holders indeed are wonderful, I'm kind of bummed that out stroller doesn't have them ;-)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week, Dyanne!
It was just born in April, and it stuck pretty close to mama, so it was hard to get a picture.
DeleteCalvin IS NOT going to be a toddler next week!
I had a stroller with a cup holder and it was wonderful!
We once made a car purchase based on the abundance of cupholders. Never have figured out how to use our cruise control, though! Hope you enjoy your mini vacation!
ReplyDeleteI applaud the basis for your car purchase and would up it to include charging ports.
DeleteI love how many of the TToT posts this week are "I'm off doing things, but here's a quick thankful list..." Awesome.
ReplyDeleteCats who eat dry food are awesome. Truly.
We packed a lot in those two and a half days!
DeleteI had an old, old cat that I adopted from my great aunt when she passed away. He not only ate canned food twice every day, but she also gave him little clumps of raw hamburger every day. I had to break the bad news to him that, while I would concede the canned food, the daily steak tartare was history.
