1. Dry cat food.
2. Cats who eat dry cat food, so going off for a long weekend requires nothing more for them than extra dry cat food and extra water.
3. Cup holders in cars.
4. Cruise control, because the car we took this weekend doesn't have it (one day it worked, one day it didn't anymore), and I know it's a First World problem, but it makes my foot cramp to drive 8 hours without it.
5. Kids who are old enough to pack their own suitcases for a trip.
6. My pillows at home, because hotel pillows suck.
7. Lunch with my Person and both of our families.
8. Sno-cones on a hot day.
9. Eating yourself silly while visiting all your favorite restaurants in a span of just two and a half days.
10. Going to the zoo.

I would hate to be without cruise control - I use it all the time. I use it to keep my lead foot under control though.

ReplyDeleteHow often are you on long stretches of interstate, Clark? I imagine where you live, there isn't as much of that. Here in the Middle, we have miles and miles of farmland and woodsy areas between point A and point B.
DeleteFunny how you mentioned cup holders. There was an ex-colleague (she didn't know much about computers and was elderly) who asked what the CD ROM drive was for for. She thought that it was a cup holder. I had to teach her the internet!

DeleteI know about those 8 hour drives. Feet cramps, butt cramps, shoulder cramps - all of it. Sounds like some good summer fun on your mini-vacation.

DeleteOur cruise went out mysteriously for a day on our spring break trip. When one is used to not worrying about keeping a steady speed, having to actually do it hurts. And is stupidly difficult. I'm with ya.

It was just born in April, and it stuck pretty close to mama, so it was hard to get a picture.

We once made a car purchase based on the abundance of cupholders. Never have figured out how to use our cruise control, though! Hope you enjoy your mini vacation!

DeleteI had an old, old cat that I adopted from my great aunt when she passed away. He not only ate canned food twice every day, but she also gave him little clumps of raw hamburger every day. I had to break the bad news to him that, while I would concede the canned food, the daily steak tartare was history.
