H is for How I Met Your Mother

My daughter and I are tremendous fans of "How I Met Your Mother." We have spent 9 seasons watching Ted try to find the right girl.

My daughter has a "Slap Bet Commissioner" t-shirt.

We sing Robin Sparkles' song, "Let's Go To The Mall" when we, duh, go to the mall.

We salute when someone uses the words "major" or "general" in a sentence.

We watched the final episode of the series two weeks ago (SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET), sad that Robin and Barney got divorced, but happy that she and Ted finally, FINALLY got together.

And the mystery of the yellow umbrella was finally solved.

So, in homage to "How I Met Your Mother," it was only fitting that this be the April Showers craft I did with my Primary class:

We could have painted our umbrellas red. Or green. Or blue. Instead, we made them yellow, because we are--

Legen -- wait for it -- dary.

    1. Yeah, the ending was a little disappointing. I had really wanted it to work out with Barney and Robin, and then I realize how stupid I am being, because it's NOT REAL!

  4. I just discovered the joys of this particular show in reruns maybe about a month or two ago. I am just starting to really get into it.... Writer's Digest just put out an article titled "7 things How I Met Your Mother Can Teach Us About Writing." I have it in email if you'd like me to forward it. Havent read it yet so cant vouch for it.

    1. Oooo, yes, send it to me! It's a fabulously written show. If you have Netflix, I believe it's still on there, and you can watch it from the beginning.

  5. I've never seen an episode, but the cool thing is that is has become a "thing" between you and your daughter. I had a similar experience with my daughter and the show Gilmore Girls a few years back. Great memories and good bonding time!
