You Can Quote Me On This

Giving something new a try today. While catching up on the blogs I follow, I read today's post by Old Dog, New Tits (you probably aren't terribly surprised that I might have been intrigued by this blog name and started following her). Her post is based on this week's writing prompt by Mama Kat, which was "list 6 of your favorite quotes." 

Deal me in.

"Put. The Candle. Back."

Ahh, Young Frankenstein! Please tell me you've seen this! If I had to pick just one movie as my all-time favorite, this would be it. My husband and I both like to use this quote, as well as its close second, "Sedagive? SEDAGIVE???"

"Pivot! Pivot! Piiiivvvottt!"

Every time, and I DO mean EVERY TIME I help someone carry a heavy or awkwardly-shaped object, I shout this out. Don't you know everyone at my house loves THAT. And I think of Ross and Rachel trying to carry a couch up the stairs of Ross's apartment building, because he was too cheap to pay for delivery, and I laugh out loud. And usually drop my end of whatever we're carrying.

"Redrum!"

I love spelling that out with alphabet letters on magnet boards at preschool.

Scarlett O'Hara had it right.

Sometimes, it's all you need.

That line has never failed to bring a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes.

  2. Oh, gosh, Dyanne, you had me chuckling at every quote. (except for Charlotte's eulogy; that would have been wrong. :-) ). I would also add "Abbie Normal" as an oft-quoted Y.F. line around here. And occasionally my twisted DH will leave Redrum written in a foggy mirror for no reason. I think....Thanks for the laughs!

  3. Well, I guess I have another movie to add to the list of ones I should see but never will because I never get the chance to watch a movie.
    Friends? So funny.
    My extended family's favorite things to quote are Seinfeld and the movie The Jerk. We can't get together without both being quoted at least a few times.

    1. You absolutely HAVE to see Young Frankenstein. You'll never sing "Putting On The Ritz" the same way again (provided you ever sing it in the first place). I knew we both had the Seinfeld thing from my pretzel comment. I have to say I fell asleep when I went to see The Jerk and have never actually seen it.

  5. Dyanne - these are a hoot! (Well, not the Charlotte one - but also good.) I have never seen Young Frankenstein in its entirety. Perhaps now it's time. Redrum on the preschool magnet board? Classic. These are all great.

    1. Thank you, Lisa! Do watch Young Frankenstein. You'll love it! And preschoolers can't read "redrum" but preschool teachers can. Such fun to creep someone out with that, especially since the preschool is in a church....

    1. We have a steep staircase with a turn in it in our house, so I've been able to shout "pivot" quite a number of times. Thanks for stopping by, Nicoyle!

  8. This was wonderful and fun. Though I haven't watched Young Frankenstein. I absolutely love 'Gone With The Wind' and actually done a prompt a couple days ago where you had to use that line 'After all tomorrow is another day'. Ah, Charlotte's Web........... my now 7 year old has played that so much I have every line memorized but can still enjoy it. That's rare. I tear up when Fern has to give Wilbur away to begin with. :) I also cry when watching 'The Fox and The Hound'. This was delightful to read! Thank you.
